“ Det finns fabriker överallt här i Gislaved - en del är igång och andra inte. Min första vecka här besökte jag en som hade lagts ner för några år sedan och det var en magnifik plats. De enorma fabrikshallarna ekade för varje steg jag tog, och jag kunde inte låta bli att skrika ut något nonsens bara för att höra det studsa tillbaka.

I några mindre lokaler i samma byggnad som industrin övergett, finns nu nya hyresgäster: en finsk förening, en bågskytteklubb och en grodsamlare.

Jag läste någonstans att de mest färgglada grodorna är de giftigaste, men att man kan styra deras giftproduktion beroende på vad man matar dem med..”

Carl-Oskar Jonssons konstnärskap tar sig främst uttryck i text och teckning, utforskande den expressiva potentialen i de mest grundläggande verktygen för konstnärligt och litterärt skapande. I utställningen i Gislaveds visas sällsynta skulpturala verk. De är karaktäristiskt både materiellt minimalistiska och konceptuellt expressiva.

Jonsson är en Air-Småland resident vid Gisalveds konsthall och en av de två första bildkonstnärerna i programmet vilket finansieras av Region Jönköping.

“There are factories all over the place here in the town of Gislaved—some are up and running, some are not. My first week here, I visited one that had closed down some years ago and it was a magnificent place. The huge factory halls echoed with every step I took, and I couldn’t resist yelling out some

nonsense just to hear it bounce back.

In some of the smaller spaces that the industry has abandoned, there are now some new tenants renting: a Finnish association, an archery club and a frog collector.

I read somewhere that the most colorful frogs are the most poisonous, but that you can control their poison production, depending on what you feed them.”

Carl-Oskar Jonssons artistic output is manily in text and drawing, exploring the expressive potential of the most foundational tools of artistic and litterary creation. In the Gislaved exhibition he shows rare sculptural works that are characteristically, both materially minimalist, en conceptually expressive.

Jonsson is an Air-Småland resident at Gislaveds konsthall and one of the two first Visual artists in the programme, which is funded by Region Jönköping.
